A performance marketing agency built around one idea.

Most companies don’t have a traffic problem. They have a system problem. Channels run in silos, tracking is incomplete, and leads lose value after the click. We connect paid media, organic search, conversion optimization, and analytics into one system, then manage it against revenue rather than activity.

We connect paid media, organic search, conversion optimization, and analytics into one system, then manage it against revenue rather than activity.

Engagements are run by senior operators, not handed down to junior account managers. You talk to the people doing the work, and the strategy and the execution stay in the same hands.

We work with multi-location and appointment-based businesses, high-intent companies where conversion drives revenue directly, and B2B companies that need measurable acquisition. Clients are across the United States, with work extending into Latin America and the United Kingdom, and we are based in Denver.

About Nick Neels

I’m Nick Neels. I have advised Google, Apple, Meta, and Microsoft on local search, led growth marketing at a healthcare company as it scaled from a single market to a national network, and run a local search practice covering more than 100,000 business locations. Every channel Otter Ridge offers is one I have run myself, hands on the accounts rather than a level above them.

More than 20 years of that work, at startups and at billion-dollar technology businesses, is why I started Otter Ridge in 2022.

I have contributed to Moz’s Local Search Ranking Factors across five editions, and taught digital marketing at the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business.

Outside the work

Outside the work

I enjoy running, hiking, hunting, and fishing, and I have opinions about coffee that my wife finds excessive. Most weekends are spent somewhere in the mountains with her and our two kids. The company name comes from Ottertail, Minnesota, where my roots are, and the Rocky Mountain ridges west of Denver, where we adventure. Both places reward the same things the work does: patience, and noticing the small detail everyone else walked past. The name came from those two places rather than from a branding exercise.
